Programs in this area develop young people’s capacity to engage in positive behaviors that nurture their own well-being, set personal goals and live successfully as self-sufficient adults.
SMART GIRLS (Skills, Mastery and Resistance Training)
SMART Girls is an 8-10 week health, fitness, prevention/education and self-esteem enhancement program for girls ages 9 to 14. Currently, grades 4th - 6th meet on Wednesdays at 4:30 PM. Programs are designed to encourage healthy attitudes and lifestyles that will enable young girls to develop to their full potential. In 2008, Dove® partnered with Boys & Girls Clubs of America to conduct self-esteem workshops in multiple Club locations around the country—reaching more than 1,300 girls. Dove® continues to support self-esteem workshops as well as our own SMART Girls program. |
HEALTHY HABITS
Empowering youth to make the right and healthy eating choices is a critical objective of this program enabling youth to live happier and healthier lives. Triple Play’s nutritional component of the program, Healthy Habits, educates youth on basic food concepts including the food pyramid, calories and importance of incorporating vitamins and minerals. PASSPORT TO MANHOOD
Passport to Manhood promotes and teaches responsibility while reinforcing positive behavior in our male club members ages 11 to 14. Passport to Manhood consists of 14 small-group sessions, each of which concentrates on a specific aspect of manhood through highly interactive activities. |
