In Memory of David Asper Johnson
We share with all the loss of a great man, a community champion who truly made a difference.
The Boys & Girls Club of Venice shall remember and always be grateful for Dave's steadfast support and extraordinary commitment to our mission of providing lessons in character and leadership to the youth of today.
Dave offered life lessons - by example - to all associated with the Boys & Girls Club of Venice. He embodied the Boys & Girls Club motto, openly exhibiting the meaning of responsibility, fairness, loyalty and friendship. He listened intently to others, and acted with sensitivity, understanding and consideration, regardless of difficulty or inconvenience. He was generous with his time and money, found humor in the little things, and enjoyed a good laugh. Most of all, he was a true friend.
Through the years, Dave supported this Club in ways too numerous to list. We could always count on him to be there - in the good times and the bad. He served on the Youth of the Year Committee, the Advisory Board of Directors and as a member of the Building Construction Committee, and he was instrumental in fostering the development of our current facility. In the 1980s he was awarded the prestigious Boys & Girls Club of Venice "Man of the Year" but it was really we who were honored that this behind-the-scenes giant would accept our attempt at saying "Thank you." His legacy will live on in all the lives he touched.
With our deepest sympathies to Dave's family, Argonaut colleagues and dear friends.
