A diverse group of civic-minded youth advocates are employed by the Boys & Girls Club of Venice. Our fully-trained, dedicated staff work together in developing the youth of our community.
Each member of our highly respected team is encouraged to advance professionally in their respective arena of influence. Guidance is provided through orientations, development trainings, quarterly all-staff gatherings, and direct peer-to-peer mentoring/coaching. Learning Center Specialist (Part-time)
Days: Monday through Thursday (some Fridays)
Hours: 2 p.m. – 7 p.m.
*Wages for all part-time positions are hourly and commensurate on experience.
*Opportunity to be a part-time hire for the summer break program July – August
Primary Functions:
· Lead after-school homework help and other programs targeted for elementary school students.
· Assist in planning, implementing, and supervising enrichment activities within the Study Lounge.
· Facilitate character building and leadership development programs targeted for elementary and middle school students
Key Roles:
· Assist in creating an environment that facilitates the achievement of youth development outcomes.
· Promote, stimulate and track program participation and outcomes
· Register new members and participate in the club orientation process
· Provide guidance and role modeling to members
· Support Education Director in enhancing the academic achievement of club members
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE DESIRED:
· Two year degree in related field from an accredited college, or equivalent experience
· A minimum of two year’s work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people
· Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Able to work with minimal supervision
· Ability to manage both small and large groups of children and adolescents
· Bilingual in Spanish and English (helpful, but not required)
· Computer skills: Microsoft Office; Microsoft Outlook

Administrative Assistant
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
Full-time [X] Exempt [ ] Non-Exempt
Essential Job Responsibilities:
· Provide regular clerical and administrative support to the Chief Professional Officer and other Club administrative staff (Associate Executive Director, Director of Development)
· Prepare correspondence and reports, maintains admin schedule and calendar, answers telephones and maintains electronic and hard copy files
· Perform regular administrative duties, preparing correspondence and reports as requested by administrative staff and composes draft letters following established formats
· Proofread all materials for accuracy prior to supervisory review and signature
· Maintain executive directors and associate executive director’s calendar, scheduling meetings and making logistical and travel arrangements necessary for internal and external meetings. Prepare meeting agenda and minutes, as requested.
· Maintain master schedule of Club’s grants and human resource activities, collecting and disseminating information to Club staff, volunteers, members and families as instructed.
· Answer telephones, providing general information, referring callers to other staff or taking messages as necessary.
· Maintain electronic and hard copy filing systems, making sure they are accurate and timely and facilitate easy retrieval of information.
· Monitor office supply inventory and order supplies as necessary.
· May be responsible for managing inventory of office equipment and service contracts, performing routine maintenance activities and contacting service representatives as needed
· May serve as Club receptionist, greeting all members and visitors and maintaining attendance and visitor logs.
· Monitor staff attendance and personal time off (PTO).
· Perform other related secretarial or administrative duties as requested.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
· Assist with some accounting functions for the purpose of grants and special events.
· Assist with some human resource functions including maintaining confidential employee files and human resource related correspondence to employees.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
· AA or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field
· A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible work experience as an administrative assistant
· General knowledge of administrative practices, processes and procedures of non-profit organizations.
· Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Strong and progressive technology skills including internet research, Microsoft Office
· Ability to interact professionally with Club staff, board members, volunteers, and other related agencies.
SALARY RANGE ($28,000 - $32,000 based on level of experience)
